Leadership Philosophy

Leadership is a difficult thing to define- it ebbs and flows from being unreachable to being overwhelmingly personal. My journey in finding a leadership style that suits who I am, my values, and my personality has not been linear. I've struggled to stay true to myself, I've struggled to be a strong enough leader, I've struggled to even consider myself a leader. While nurtured and refined in my time as an undergrad, my leadership philosophy will never be stagnant - it will continue to develop and change with every new stage of life.

No matter where I am or what I'm doing, my leadership will always be rooted in the values I hold closest to my heart. Right now, my leadership (& life) motto is this:

"I will base my life in my faith & greet each day with a healthy dose of humor & a boatload of ambition.

I will look at the world- all of the people, places, and things around me- with gratitude, tolerance, and love."

With each new position of leadership, whether large or small, I hope to stay true to this motto. I will never falter in my faith for the sake of a job or leadership decision. I will never stop seeing the light in even the toughest situations, I will default to humor in times of uncertainty. I will never lose the determination that drives my work, passions, and relationships.

And finally, I won't take for granted the world and opportunities around me. Gratitude, tolerance, and love will persevere in how I choose to view my day-to-day life.

Becoming the type of leader I want to be is something still in the works and always will be. No matter the situation, I hope to lead with the mindset above, as staying true to my values is the most important element to maintaining an ethical and effective leadership style.
