LEAD 4000: Leadership Capstone

Lead 4000 is the culmination of the leadership studies minor; in this class students not only work in teams to tackle a wicked problem of their choosing, but also observe leadership practices in a community organization, also of their choosing.

Pre-Course Reflection

It feels like just yesterday I was writing my very first PRLC pre-course reflection- it seemed like it would be ages before I would have to write my last one. Time has flown by, leadership theories have been applied, wicked problems delved into, presentations practiced and perfected.  I've grown so much as a leader, as a student, and as a person. I'm eager to end my leadership minor with Elaina Verveer, a professor whom I've never taken a class with. I'm excited to round out my minor learning more and more about how leadership ought to be applied as well as the implications that leaders all around us have on the world. I'm anxious that I will be in that real world in just a few months, but comforted in all I have learned during my time taking PRLC and LEAD classes.

Post-Course Reflection

My experience in LEAD 4000 has been possibly the most impactful in all of my leadership courses yet. In other classes, I've found my passions, I've refined my technical skills, and I've created amazing relationships. This capstone course has tied all of those together, teaching me how to advocate for myself and ultimately forcing me to take a good look at my values and how I carry them into my everyday leadership. I know who I am and who I strive to be. I'm figuring out how to reflect that in every step I take and every situation I encounter. LEAD 4000 has given me the time, confidence, and skills to do so.
